Gerry Studds, ". . . said his husband. . . "

The AP, reporting today on the death of former Congressman, Gerry Studds quotes "his husband," Dean Hara:

He gave people of his generation, of my generation, of future generations, the courage to do whatever they wanted to do.

Whatever they wanted to do?

In the context of eulogizing a man who had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy while serving as a United States Congressman, this is a very troubling thing to celebrate.

Comments

Everytime I hear that semi-coherent plea for doing what ever one wants I'm reminded of the ravens singing about a fictional flying elephant in Dumbo. I'm not sure some mediocore congressman, homosexual or not, is that beacon in the darkness.
