Mike Huckabee in the Iowa Caucus: You Are Invited To Celebrate Tonight

January 3, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

Mike Huckabee will have his Victory Celebration at the Embassy Suites at 105 Locust St. in Des Moines, Iowa at 7:30 tonight.

It has been an emotional campaign with sharp words; sharp elbows.

But there were some nice words this week about some Huckabee campaign workers. We just didn't expect them from The Chronicle.

Not everything was so pleasant during the campaign.

A number of Huckabee leaning pastors (redundant, I know...) received threatening letters reporting that the preachers could lose their church's tax exempt status. The letters had the IRS logo. This would be both illegal...and unethical.

But there is an easy way to stop this nonsense.

End the IRS.

Huckabee is the only conservative in the race who wants to dismantle that large government bureaucracy: The Internal Revenue Service.

Eliminating the IRS would unleash the unique American entrepreneur spirit to create businesses; create new jobs.

Come to the Victory party tonight and help end the IRS and bring on the FairTax.

Thank you (foot)notes:

One reporter said to the campaign, off the record, that the left and east coasts "Don't get it" speaking of the flyover country of the middle of American. Where normal people live.

Iowa is, after all, the birthplace of John Wayne.

Charmaine will be on the 737 to New Hampshire tonight. Your Business Blogger is thinking about stopping by Concord...on the way to Virginia.

Congratulations! On the Chronicle mention, I mean. Do you think the CHE would review my blog, too, if (say) I toured Wyoming with the Romney folk and let John drive the nine kids cross country?

Jack,

Thanks for the updates, I have been inwardly rejoicing all day because I think it is absolutely hilarious that Mitt has spent millions and Huck not even close to him. People have been praying all day and aside from people like Hugh Hewitt, Gary Bauer and Frank Pastore all appearing to be for anyone but Huck, it would be great if the Lord surprises them all. Go Huck!

OH, and just a PS - I am working hard here in OC California with others for Huck and we're meeting on Sunday for a strategy session to get the vote out here in CA.

Hello, I saw a car from Virginia with Yoest license plates a half block from the Embasy Suites tonight and made my husband pull over so I could quickly put my card under your windshield wippers -- it had to be your car!

Hello and welcome to Des Moines! We have really had fun watching the whole political process this year in Iowa and watching the Huckabee star rise. I would have loved to have introduced myself to you though I am rather raspy voice tonight after cheering in the ball room in support of Huckabee\'s win.

I was interviewed by Newsweek. They spotted my feminists for life button and wanted a quote. My husband was interviewed by the Iowa NPR radio affiliate. It is so much fun to see members of the media somewhat dumbstuck by Iowans, how the political game is played here in the Hawkeye state, and the core values here in the heartland.

I intend to keep up my \"bumper sticker analysis\" throughout the year! If you pass back through here later in the campaign, please let me know if there is anything I can do to welcome you in our great state. Stay warm! Patti

Patti - you have got to be kidding, right? Do you honestly think that God favors your candidate because you hate Mormons? I am ashamed to be a Republican after the glaring example of religious bigotry demonstrated in Iowa tonight - are all Iowans as unChristian as you?

Oh, so you only allow postings you agree with - must be comfortable in your self righteous bubble.

Susan, it's not a
Christian bubble that kept me from approving the comments -- it's an SUV bubble -- I was a-travelling today: Des Moines to Erie today
Erie to Manchester tomorrow.

Thanks for commenting, I guess...

Jack
