The Party of Death by Ramesh Ponnuru

September 30, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

AUL Naxi party.pngOctober 9th Americans United for Life is celebrating their annual gala in Chicago. Ramesh Ponnuru, the Senior Editor for National Review and author of The Party of Death is the keynoter.

The Party of Death does not care for The Party of Death.

Pictured is one of the less clever but presentable pieces of hate mail received by AUL.

Roll over for enlargement.

The Alert Reader will note a photo of Charmaine at UVA and Ramesh Ponnuru and various symbols of Germany's National Socialism.

(There are two "N" words that are not used in polite company. One is a slander for African-Americans; the other is a four letter word for National Socialism.) (The Party of Death uses this four letter word repeatedly. The Party of Death is not polite company...)

If you are anywhere near Chicago-land on 9 October come hear Ramesh speak. Register here.

The Party of Death

Matthew Eppinette at AUL reports,

A good indicator of how the pro-life position is winning is the extreme rhetoric people use in opposing it. The more ground the pro-life position gains, the more extreme the rhetoric we hear form those who oppose us. Hate mail is a good case in point.

Ramesh begins his book,

The party of death started with abortion, but its sickle has gone from threatening the unborn, to the elderly, to the disabled; it has swept from the maternity ward to the cloning laboratory to a generalized disregard for 'inconvenient' human life.

Ponnuru writes,

Everything you think you know about Roe v. Wade is a lie...

Media Alert: Your Business Blogger(R)
Interviewed for The Washington Post

| By Jack Yoest

jack_yoest_washington_post_2008.jpgYour Business Blogger(R) was interviewed on a series of articles on Bad Managers, Maybe (Gulp) The Problem Is You and in Think Your Boss Is Bad? Some Managers Can't Manage. What to Do If You've Got a Boss Who Only Makes Things Worse. By Tara Swords, Special to The Washington Post, Sunday, September 28, 2008

Jack Yoest says many people haven't learned how to be good workers.

In my conversation with Tara, my concern was not so much with mis-managers as it was with subordinates,

"Jack Yoest, president of Management Training of DC, takes a harder line on the boss-employee relationship and says it's the employee's job to relieve the boss's anxieties, not the other way around.

"If you have a nervous, micromanaging boss who's always in your hair, he probably doesn't trust you," Yoest says. "The employee hasn't sold the boss on his ability to get anything done, and I'd say, most of the time, it's the employee's fault." "

We talk about leadership but not follower-ship. And we teach neither,

Yoest says most people haven't been taught the mechanics of being a good employee. Rather than insisting that managers empower employees, Yoest urges employees to convince the boss that they are dependable and can act as the boss would.

The goal should be to go from an employee who does nothing unless told, or who is always asking the boss what to do, to an employee who recommends a course of action and, after gaining the boss's trust, acts on the boss's behalf.

And the end result of being a good subordinate who can anticipate, adapt and learn is to give the employee more control over the timing and content of his workload,

"When you've reached that level, you're at a whole new level of job security" because you're behaving like a leader, Yoest says. And that puts you one step closer to being the leader .

Not everyone aspires to management. But everyone wants independence and respect at work.

Read the entire story here. And check out the comments.

Media Appearance: Charmaine vs Planned Parenthood on FOX

September 24, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

Charmaine recently debated Sarah Flowers a consultant from Planned Parenthood. They compared the abortion positions of Obama and McCain.

Obama favors abortion through all three -- or four trimesters, as Laura Ingraham quips -- and McCain votes for Life.

Barack Obama Faith Tour Flops With Pro-Life Voters in Jerry Falwell's Backyard
Lynchburg, VA
(LifeNews.com)

For the new Barack Obama "faith tour" to have any success, it needs to be able to draw young and evangelical voters.

Yet, at its first stop in the Virginia back yard of well-known pastor Jerry Falwell, just 15 people showed up for the event.

The Obama campaign has signed up evangelical author Donald Miller, Pepperdine University professor Doug Kmiec and former Indiana Congressman Tim Roemer, for the "Barack Obama: Faith, Family and Values Tour."

The trio made a stop at Liberty University, which is home to over 10,000 evangelical students from across the county and a conservative bastion in a state Obama is targeting heavily in this election. Yet, his "faith tour" failed to resonate with people there.

Billy Valentine, director of Catholics for McCain, a grassroots organization of young Catholics not affiliated with the McCain campaign, told LifeNews.com he's not surprised the event flopped.

"Young Evangelicals and Catholics alike can't be deceived by Obama's empty rhetoric, and instead realize that an Obama administration would laugh in the face of the human rights issues they passionately fight for, such as the right to life," he said.

Margaret Sanger, Barack Obama & Planned Parenthood

September 23, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

margaret_sanger.jpgThe most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.

Margaret Sanger
Founder Planned Parenthood

Barack Obama voted against his state's Born Alive Infant Protection Act. His vote would allow babies born alive -- from a botched abortion -- to die by withholding treatment.

Obama's concern was that his vote might lead to overturning Roe v Wade which made abortion legal through all nine months - and beyond.

obama_thumbs_up.jpgHis philosophy is not new.

Barack Obama
Supports Planned Parenthood

This thinking was born, so to say, at the turn of the last century and made "popular" by Margaret Sanger, founder of modern Planned Parenthood.

In 2003, Edwin Black wrote a national bestseller War against the Weak: Eugenics and America's Campaign To Create A Master Race.

War on the Weak
Author Edwin Black does not oppose abortion. But he is nevertheless horrified by the disgust that elite Americans feel for the weak, "the least among us."

Elitists like Obama.

Edwin Black writes,

Sanger's solutions were mass sterilization and mass segregation of the defective classes, and these themes were repeated often in [her book] Pivot of Civilization.

"The emergency problem of segregation and sterilization must be faced immediately. Every feeble-minded girl or woman of the hereditary type, especially of the moron class, should be segregated during the reproductive period.

Otherwise, she is almost certain to bear imbecile children, who in turn are just as certain to breed male defectives. The male defectives are no less dangerous.

Segregation carried out for one or two generations would give us only partial control of the problem.

Moreover, when we realized that each feeble-minded person is a potential source of endless progeny of defect, we prefer the policy of immediate sterilization, of making sure that parenthood is absolutely prohibited to the feeble-minded."

Edwin Black then guides us to Margaret Sanger's solution,

Sanger was willing to employ striking language to argue against the inherent misery and defect of large families. In her book, Woman and the New Race, she bluntly declared,

"Many, perhaps, will think it idle to go farther in demonstrating the immorality of large families, but since there is still an abundance of proof at hand, it may be offered for the sake of those who find difficulty in adjusting old-fashioned ideas to the facts.

The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."

It would appear that elitists like Obama, in keeping with Margaret Sanger's world view, might have prefered that the Palins abort Trigg, Sarah's Down syndrome newborn.

Why?

To avoid the "pain and despair" these children have and cause, so says Obama.

Because an unexpected child is a "punishment."

What kind of political party would even consider a man with this world view to govern?

***

Edwin Black tells us more and connects the events in War Against The Weak,

During the period between the wars, the American [eugenics] movement viewed National Socialism [in Germany] as a rising force that could, if empowered, impose a new biological world order. [National Socialism] eugenicists promised to dispense with the niceties of democratic rule.

So even if America's tower of legislation, well-funded research and entrenched bureaucratic programs still monopolized the world of applied eugenics in the 1920's, National Socialism promised to own the next decade.

American eugenicists welcomed the idea.

Obama the Democrat: The Party of Death.

Sarah Palin, the Next Margaret Thatcher

September 22, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

AK meets UK

margaret_thatcher.jpg A few years ago Your Business Blogger(R) and Charmaine enjoyed a reception for Lady Thatcher hosted by Concerned Women for America in Your Nation's Capital.

Margaret Thatcher electrified the room. Just as Sarah Palin does now.

Conservative women know how to sell.

Many comparisons have been made between Margaret Thatcher, and the conservative VP nominee Palin. Margaret Thatcher tells all in her autobiography The Path to Power.

In the mid-seventies Thatcher gave a speech that, "had two main purposes. First, it was to contain a conclusive indictment of not just Labor policies or even the Labor government, but rather the whole socialist approach which was the destruction of freedom.

Secondly, I would use it to spell out a Conservative [capitalized in original] vision that did not merely employ phrases like 'the free market' and 'personal independence' for form's sake, but took them seriously as the foundation of future policy.

Reading it through almost twenty years later, there is nothing substantial that I would change -- least of all the section about my personal creed and convictions."

Thatcher continues,

Let me give you my vision:

a man's right to work as he will,

to spend what he earns,

to own property,

to have the state as servant and not as master -- these are the British inheritance...

We must get private enterprise back on the road to recovery -- not merely to give people more of their own money to spend as they choose, but to have more money to help the old and sick and the handicapped...

I believe that, just as each of us has an obligation to make the best of his talents, so governments have an obligation to create the framework within which we can do so...

Truth is timeless. Thatcher's policies and leadership saved the United Kingdom.

sarah_palin_pubshot.jpgMcCain Palin policies and leadership will save the United States.

Thatcher and Palin both share the same world view; both believe in limited government, low taxes, individual responsibility, individual freedom.

Sarah Palin

Obama would increase the size of government and let us keep less of our money and wants to control more of our money. As Grover Norquist reminds us, the freedom of citizens can be measured by the freedom to control their own money.

McCain wants tax cuts to give more freedom to citizens. Obama wants to increase taxes and take freedom of choice from citizens.

Media Alert: Charmaine Quoted on the Google Abortion Decision

Charmaine has been quoted by a number of outlets on Google's recent policy decision to accept ads from pro-life supporters

ABC News Google OKs Religious Groups' Abortion Ads

Google Agrees to Place 'Factual' Abortion Ads; Groups on Both Sides Question What That Means
By KI MAE HEUSSNER

Sept. 18, 2008--

As part of an out-of-court settlement with a British Christian organization, Google agreed Wednesday to display anti-abortion ads purchased by religious groups.

In April, The Christian Institute took legal action against the Internet search giant when Google did not approve an abortion-related ad with the text:

UK Abortion law
Key views and news on abortion law from The Christian Institute
www.christian.org.uk

At the time, Google said its policy did not permit the advertisement of Web sites that contain "abortion and religion-related content."

Arguing that it was being treated differently because of its religious beliefs, the institute filed a lawsuit against Google under the U.K. Equality Act 2006, a law that prohibits religious discrimination.

Instead of continuing to fight the case in the court, Google reviewed its abortion ads policy and agreed to revise its policy....

Stateside, religious and anti-abortion rights groups are hailing Google's decision as a victory for both free speech and people of faith.

"We really applaud Google for making the right decision and standing by freedom of speech. It really was outrageous to censor The Christian Institute," Charmaine Yoest, a spokeswoman for the nonprofit, anti-abortion organization Americans United for Life (AUL), told ABCNews.com.

Yoest said AUL had not attempted to purchase abortion-related ads on Google. But she said she had observed discrimination when attempting to purchase ads for print campaigns.

"They raise the rates -- that's usually the kind of discrimination [we see]," she added.

Why Feminists Hate Sarah: Todd Palin, The New Brawny Man

Todd Palin was recently on Greta Van Susteren. And talked about supporting his wife as mayor, governor and, soon, Vice President.

Todd Palin is the new Brawny Man.

The Georgia-Pacific paper company did a series of Brawny Man ads a few years ago. The target market is women -- depicting the Real Man with Real Sensitivity.

Almost a mockery. But.

Certainly A Man With Appeal (to women...).

But this sells:

All Real Men, usually conservative men, want the women in their lives to succeed; to reach their full potential. And if there is a woman -- daughter, wife, sister, mother with the potential for outstanding success, Real Dudes support them. As Todd Palin supports Sarah.

Every feminist now realizes that breaking the glass ceiling requires a First Dude Brawny Man to back her up. This will never happen to feminists -- they really don't care that much for men.

Obama calls out McCain on abortion

Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican John McCain, an abortion rights opponent with a conservative Senate record on the issue, seems content with the public's perception that he's more moderate on the issue.

Democrat Barack Obama, who supports abortion rights, is only too happy to remind voters where McCain stands, but he tries to make his case without attracting too much attention.

Both candidates are gingerly trying to strike the right chord on abortion as they reach out to a critical voting group - independents and moderates, primarily women in swing-voting suburban regions of crucial states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio.

The candidates' carefully targeted ads on abortion and stem-cell research, topics that enflame passions among both abortion-rights proponents and opponents, illustrate how Republicans and Democrats alike are tailoring their messages to specific groups of voters.

Obama is calling out McCain in ads that say the GOP nominee takes an "extreme position on choice" and "will make abortion illegal." He is spreading his message through low-profile radio ads and campaign mailings, though, hoping to avoid being tagged as too liberal on a woman's right to choose to end a pregnancy.

McCain, for his part, is responding with radio commercials promising to support stem cell research to "unlock the mystery of cancer, diabetes, heart disease." He doesn't mention that the research may be conducted with human embryos, which many anti-abortion Republicans oppose. He also doesn't publicize that his running mate, Sarah Palin, is more conservative than he is on both abortion and embryonic stem cell research.

Palin opposes abortion except when the life of the mother is in danger; she is against embryonic stem cell research.

Cultural issues have largely taken a back seat this presidential campaign to the frail economy and the Iraq war, as well as questions of character and promises of change.

But with polls showing a close White House race, each candidate is trying to woo voters concerned about particular issues in hopes they will help tip the balance on Nov. 4. As with abortion, the candidates are likely to use radio and campaign mail on other social topics, such as gun control and gay rights.

Independent groups also are getting into the act with TV ads. One is trying to make Obama look out of the mainstream even among abortion rights supporters by casting him as far left. Another is encouraging McCain to "embrace a pro-life agenda."

Unlike Democratic presidential nominees Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004, Obama has not shied away from using abortion to reach out to independents and moderate Republicans.

Democrats say President Bush's Supreme Court selections of conservatives John Roberts and Samuel Alito gave Obama an opening to press the issue.

"Women are more worried now about the future of the court than in either of the last two election cycles, and Obama has been tapping into that and making this issue a big difference between him and McCain," said Democratic analyst Jenny Backus.

Republicans question Obama's strategy. They say he doesn't understand that the general electorate is more conservative than liberal and that most people aren't single-issue voters on abortion.

"For the Obama people to try to make McCain into this passionate pro-lifer, it doesn't make any sense," said Rich Galen, a Republican operative.

Obama's radio ad, running in Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and elsewhere, features nurse practitioner Valerie Baron telling voters: "John McCain's out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose."

Glossy fliers with the same messages fill the mailboxes of women in Florida, Virginia and other states.

Countering that effort, McCain rolled out his own radio ad aimed at sending a message that he's not as far right on abortion as Obama makes him seem - though he never mentions that procedure.

Instead, McCain's commercial focused on stem cell research and said he will invest more money in research to prevent disease and find medical breakthroughs to "help free families from the fear and devastation of illness."

Like Obama, McCain backs relaxing federal restrictions on financing of embryonic stem cell research while Palin - along with many ultraconservatives in the GOP - opposes that method because human embryos are destroyed. All three support research on adult stem cells.

McCain opposes abortion rights except when the life of the mother is in danger and, unlike Palin, in cases of rape or incest. He has voted for abortion restrictions permissible under Roe v. Wade and has said the 1973 decision that guaranteed abortion rights should be overturned, leaving states to decide. Advisers say he would not seek a constitutional amendment banning abortion, although he has expressed support for such a measure in the past even while saying he doubts one is likely.

Charmaine and Your Business Blogger(R) have run a number of marathons. Charmaine always cries the last 4 miles. It always hurts -- both the physical and mental. Real Pain.

But at least Charmaine's mom didn't try to murder her...

Gianna Jessen is an abortion survivor and also runs marathons. It takes her 8 hours. (If we were on the same course, she would be the only one behind me and Charmaine.)

Watch Gianna's 30 second video

Gianna needs a third of a day to complete the 26.2 miles because she has, as she says, "the gift of cerebral palsy."

It is a "gift" because the alternative, the intention of the mother and her "doctor" was death for Gianna.

It is not known if the "doctor" is a Democrat. But abortion is a sacrament of The Party of Death.

Gianna lived to tell her story, was adopted, and is an advocate for Infant Born Alive protections.

hand_broken_dude_fivefinger_2008.jpg Later in the ER The Dude asks, "When can we call mom?"

The Dude's right hand

Charmaine was in St. Paul for the Republican National Convention last Thursday. "Let's call her when we have some information about your hand," I said.

The trainer splinted-up his dominant right hand and said it was probably broken. "X-Rays will give us something positive..." negative, "to tell her."

The first rule of marriage for men is knowing when to keep your mouth shut.

"Let's not worry mom...until we have to," I said. "The more information we can give her, the better we all will feel." The Dude understood. Uncertainty causes the real pain in life.

While The Dude was dealing with his pain, we all in the ER were subjected to a more intense pain: Keith Olbermann on MSNBC.

While waiting in the ER Keith Olbermann was complaining that the RNC showed footage of The Towers going down. This reminded us all that we are at war and maybe we still need a war leader. Rather than talk about Obama's inexperience, Olbermann was miffed that such carnage would be replayed reminding us we live in a dangerous world.

But I think Olbermann was really upset about Sarah Palin.

hand_broken_dude_knucke_2008.jpg No one in the elite circles or the media (redundant, I know) understands Sarah and Todd Palin and their five kids.

The Palins are on a family mission.

Somewhat like the Blues Brothers, they are on a mission from God. Our liberal friends do not quite understand this. The Christian prays for guidance and accountability.

The Dude's forefinger knuckle -- note chip on side

Big families know this sense of purpose and the marriage partner who happens to get the ball, get the call goes into the game.

Todd is not the VP nominee. Sarah is.

I am not a CEO. Charmaine is.

Real men understand the talent and the gifts that only women have can be used in these unusual times. Like the ancient Jewish judge, Deborah, Sarah is being lifted up to help John McCain get the country on the right track; to bring the country to victory over evils foreign and domestic.

The American people understand this and love Sarah Palin.

Feminists understand this and hate Sarah Palin.

***

The story has a happy ending:

The Dude made the tackle.

Keith Olbermann got fired.

Sarah Palin will be elected.

Sarah Palin brings truth and light. In a politician, this is a miracle...

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Sarah Palin knows how to return fire.

9.11 How Would Liberals Have Protected Us?

| By Jack Yoest

We have not been attacked since 9.11.01. It is nearly impossible, in war, in politics, to make nothing happen.

So the liberals are right when they say to George Bush,

"Thanks for nothing..."

Here is a review of Reasoned Audacity's 9.11 posts over the years.

Following is background from Your Business Blogger in an article published just after 9.11. Things have changed since then. A little.

Booby traps at the Pentagon: Charmaine and Jack Yoest introduce you to the Pentagon's babes in arms. What do they want? An "open dialogue" on breastfeeding. (Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services)

Pentagon attack

ON SEPTEMBER 10TH, [2001] the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services, the group most responsible for promoting women in combat, gathered in Pentagon Conference Room 5C1042. This civilian advisory committee, whose members have the protocol status of three-star generals, monitors the concerns of women in uniform. And what was the topic on the eve of the worst attack in U.S. history?

After briefings from representatives of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard, DACOWITS, as the committee is known, issued a formal request for more information on what they deemed a matter of paramount military significance:

breast-feeding.

As the terrorists prepared to hit the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon itself, our military leaders were directed "to engage in open dialogue" on lactation tactics.

The Defense Advisory Committee on Women celebrated its fiftieth anniversary last April. At the birthday party, President Bush's deputy secretary of defense, Paul Wolfowitz, a man well regarded for his level-headed and conservative approach to military issues, lauded DACOWITS in his address as an outstanding organization" and told the assembly of earnest women that he "looked forward to [their] advice."

Dad & The Dude
preparing for war
September 11, 2001
Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D.
Just after 9am on 9.11, Your Business Blogger(R) was doing what all business owners were doing: selling something. I was on the phone with a client. Making a pitch to attend a series of seminars, with CNN on in the background. I was a bit distracted by the live feed of a burning building.

While making 'the ask,' it was clear that my customer was not aware that we had just been attacked. I wanted to say something, like, Turn on your TV and stare at real pain. It just didn't look real. I continued instead with the conversation. Your Business Blogger is not normally so focused. In denial, perhaps. Disasters are not normally good for business.

There was work to be done. My next class was on September 19.

And I didn't want the customer on the other end of the phone distracted until the sale was closed. Then we could go to war.

The deal done, I noticed my boy, The Dude, was concerned that the attacks would continue down to us in Charlottesville, Virginia. "We got to get ready!" he shouts and scampers around digging up my old uniform, boots, saber and his grandfather's bayonet. (Old soldiers never die, they just file away. Apologies to MacArthur.)

The Dude spent the rest of the morning marching outside our front door. Looking out for terrorists. It must have worked.

Charlottesville was not attacked.

But we were affected. Everyone was. But I wasn't sure that the bank was going to delay getting their money over a pesky act of war. I still had to earn a living.

How would the war affect business? Not the macro, but mine? I had a seminar and clients coming into town in little over a week and the world was on fire. Would anyone show up? Would anyone care?

We North Americans do business like we do war. We win. Donald Trump becomes Victor Davis Hanson. At 8 am on 19 September 2001, 86 professionals showed up for my class and got down to business. A packed room.

The free lunch helped.

Even my business partner, Faisal Alam, came down from New York City to join us. He is Muslim.

The country was mourning, but on the move.

I started with a minute of silence in remembrance of those lost in the World Trade Towers.

Then we all got back to work. Each making the world a better place. Even with a war on.

Obama and the Boy with Down syndrome

September 9, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

The Dude broke his hand in a football game for the Yorktown Patriots. Charmaine and Your Business Blogger(R) and Baby Boo sat with him yesterday as a cast was applied and immobilized his hand.

The Dude was not in especially good spirits. And friends rallied around him to encourage and commiserate. To lightly cheer him on.

Teenagers who showed compassion?

Lots of adults, too showed real interest -- and not just the coaches....

laplante_football.JPG

Lyndon LaPlante
It seems that The Dude was indeed lifted up. But Charmaine and I noticed something more. The giving, the compassion, the caring did more for the giver than the getter.

The Dude was injured and would play again in a few weeks. However, we were able to get the briefest glimpse of the good, the Divine that is seen in small acts of charity.

Life's real challenges are designed, it seems, not for the afflicted but for those who surround the sufferer. Life's pitfalls, large and small, reveal the character of the bystander.

Does the onlooker render care or complain? What does the Good Samaritan do?

Another football story, a few years ago, came out of Texas. It's the story of Lyndon LaPlante who scored a touchdown. Lyndon has Down syndrome . The Dallas Morning News reports:

Conservatives vs Liberals: A Case Study

September 8, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

A good friend sent this along and boy is it surprising...not because of the content, but because of the source.

It came from a professor in the academy.

Which proves that not all academics are leftists.

Father/Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so
many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat,
and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to
support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch
Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she
had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that
her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he
thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher
taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The
self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth
and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing
in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA,
and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was
taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left
her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even
have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends
because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey
doing?' She replied, 'Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are
easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular
on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the
parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because
she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the
Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who
only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that
would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily
fired back, 'That's a crazy idea, and how would that be fair! I've
worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard
work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I
worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the
Republican party.'

If anyone has a better explanation of the difference between
Republican and Democrat I'm all ears.

Sarah Palin on Abortion: What is Her Record?

Media Alert: Charmaine on MSNBC Debating Motherhood and Palin

September 4, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

Charmaine will be debating Kim Gandy from NOW on Palin's speech.

Here's what happen the last time Charmaine and Kim "shared" a microphone,

gandy_yoest.jpg

Even Rush Limbaugh noted the altercation. Back on November 5, 2005, Your Business Blogger(R) wrote about the press conference,

Please forgive the-day-in-the-life post from Your Business Blogger[R]. I was in the middle of drafting an article on the glass ceiling for women. And got a first person account instead.

Today I thought I'd give the little woman a respite from the laundry and the kids. "Go play in the Nation's Capital," I said to Charmaine this morning. "Have a fun lunch with the girls!"

Then I hear Rush talk about a smack down at the Supreme Court and see a photo of Charmaine in her red power suit at Rush Limbaugh EIB Extra... .

She had Kim Gandy in a half-nelson.

I have sat through a number of cantankerous board meetings. Adversarial budget negotiations. Hardball sales presentations. Terminations. Giving and getting.

But no one actually got spanked.

I thought the gathering of girls today would be a powder puff tea party of cooperation. Sweetness and light and reason and 'Please' and 'Thankyou.'

I was wrong. No one fights like a woman on a mission.

I'll have to rewrite the article.

(It is a joy to marry over your head.)

Why Didn't Hillary Clinton Get the Dem VP Nomination?

| By Jack Yoest

fish_on_a_bicycle_yoest.JPG

In the Yoest household kitchen
Answer: She's not married to Todd Palin.

On CNN yesterday Charmaine reinforced the point that women can succeed in any position at any level, if she has a deep support system. Beyond the government safety net.

The best support system is to marry a guy who will embrace the family mission, the family business. A husband who is not distracted by interns at 2am.

And will lift up his wife when her time comes...

And I'm not just talking pregnancy.

***

About half of all women who enter into a Ph.D. program do not finish. When Charmaine was working on her disertation at the University of Virginia, Your Business Blogger(R), MBA, and Charmaine's parents, Mom, Ph.D; Dad, Ph.D; Brother, Ph.D. and Penta-Posse gathered together and strategized on the path to make sure that Charmaine was in the half that got 'hooded.'

The extended family decided to invest in Charmaine.

Money was key but not the entire issue. Wisdom and logistical support were the real needs of house hold and five little ones.

Extended family and a hubby who will sacrifice for the family mission is the solution to whatever success the family, the mother, the mission will achieve.

Todd Palin is my kind of guy. Like me, he married way over his head and is not afraid to let the world know.

We are both married to CEO's who advance the family mission. Our extended families have made sacrifices and investments to advance very talented women, very talented wives.

If more feminists had devoted husbands, maybe they'd enjoy more success. As well as the other benefits of marital bliss (re Five Children...).

And this is the real reason the liberals hate Sarah Palin. She is normal.

Feminist icon Gloria Steinem can be blamed for a lot problems these days in verbiage and communication in the battle of men vs women.

But not this phrase.

Gloria Steinem writes to Time Magazine,

"In your note on my new and happy marital partnership with David Bale, you credit me with the witticism A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. In fact, Irina Dunn, a distinguished Australian educator, journalist and politician, coined the phrase back in 1970 when she was a student at the University of Sydney."

Palin in Church and Charmaine Quotes

| By Jack Yoest

Our liberal leftist friends do not know what to make of Sarah Palin.

They do not understand her faith in Jesus Christ.
They do not understand her leadership.
They do not understand her family.
They do not understand her husband.
They do not understand her ability to persuade.
They do not understand her politics.
They do not understand her ability to win.
They do not understand her love of the military.
They do not understand her motherhood of 5.
They do not understand her balancing work and home.
They do not understand her love of small-town America.
They do not understand her pro-life (com)passion.

Watch her short talk in a church in Alaska,

GOP strategist Ed Rollins called her performance last nite at the convention "magical."

Weekly Standard editor Fred Barnes observes that her manner of communication is natural and cannot be taught. Sarah Palin has both content and style.

***

Charmaines is quoted:

ChristianityToday.com has a substantial interview, From discouragement to excitement, by Sarah Pulliam

Americans United for Life Action president Charmaine Yoest is both relieved and excited about Sen. John McCain's vice presidential pick. Yoest spoke with me about the difference between last week and this week.

Last week, you saw the conservative base of the Republican Party really demoralized and discouraged when they were hearing all the talk about putting in a pro-abortion vice presidential pick. Now with such a solid platform coming out of the deliberations last week and a solid pro-life ticket, everybody's really excited.

People have been talking about the broadening of the evangelical agenda. Do you think that's happening?

As the leader of a pro-life organization, I find it really troubling when people try to juxtapose a pro-life agenda with other issues, like poverty, and saying there's some sort of zero-sum gain, that if you concentrate on life issues that doesn't mean you don't care about other issues as much.

13 WMAZ, For McCain, 6 Keys to Victory,

"There is an authentic McCain voice on these issues," says Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life. "He has to find it and use it."

On CNN HeadLine News, yesterday afternoon, Charmaine said that Sarah's husband, "Is being airbushed out of the picture," by the unhappy feminists.

LifeNews.com writes, Republican Party Cmte OK Strong Pro-Life Platform Condemning Abortion

"We call for a ban on human cloning and a ban on the creation of or experimentation on human embryos for research purposes" and a "ban on all embryonic stem-cell research, public or private."

Charmaine Yoest, the president of Americans United for Life, updated LifeNews.com on the changes.

"Very late in the day, a pro-life ally advanced an argument which opened the door to embryonic-destructive stem cell research. The amendment offered would have undermined the section's clear language banning embryonic stem cell research," she said.

"As you can imagine, the discussion became pretty intense," she added.

"After significant back-and-forth among the delegates -- which was punctuated by an adjournment to a side conference in a hallway where the delegates standing up for a strong ban were 'encouraged' to give way -- the final language remained firm on an unequivocal ban on embryonic-destructive research and experimentation," Yoest said.

"We can take deep satisfaction tonight in knowing that the platform recommended to the party by the committee will be a strong pro-life document," she told LifeNews.com.

Values Voter News writes,

Dr. Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, said although this is not what Sarah Palin wished for her daughter, "the way we react to life's challenges is the true testament to our character." But all this attention has brought to light an important issue!!! "Until Monday, teen pregnancy and sex education were not issues in the national political campaign. According to the Associated Press, Sarah Palin -- in a 2006 questionnaire distributed to gubernatorial candidates -- said that "explicit sex-ed program will not find my support."

Not everyone is happy. McCain's Capitulation to the Religious Right Now Complete,

Charmaine Yoest, Americans United for Life: "And then when [Palin] was announced -- it was like you couldn't breathe. [We] were grabbing each other and jumping up and down."

The Canberrra Times from Austrialia reports Palin's teen daughter pregnant,

Charmaine Yoest, Head of Americans United for Life, said, "We join them in welcoming this new life."

She closes at 2pm this morning summing up the Sarah speech, emailing, It was amazing! She was so great! Just came out of the CNN after-party, now stuck in the shuttle cause of protestors!!

Media Alert: Charmaine on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell on Pro-Life Politics

September 2, 2008 | By Jack Yoest

Thumbnail image for Charmaine_ABCNews_Now_PlanBApproved.jpgCharmaine is back in Minneapolis-St. Paul for the GOP convention. Last night she worked the National Review and Weekly Standard parties meetings.

She has avoided the liberals who are smashing up St.Paul and beating up the (non-violent) cops. The liberals are hiding behind face coverings -- like bandits.

This is legal in the Twin Cities.

Charmaine on an earlier appearance on ABC

Unrelated to the domestic terrorists, Charmaine will be debating a pro-abortion-choice woman and abortion in conservative politics, Jennifer Stockman.

Andrea Mitchell, from NBC, will be moderating. Check listings for MSNBC.

Hit time is 12:30 local time -- 1:30pm Eastern.

Sex is always the theme -- not with conservatives -- but with liberals.

The Obama mantra would be that teens are going to do it, so let's all educate them to be efficient, proficient [f-word deleted by Charmaine the Editrix] [no, it wasn't THAT F-word...].

As long as they don't smoke...

We can agree that it is best that teens don't smoke.
We can agree that it is best that teens don't drink.
So let's agree that it is best that teens wait for sex.

We do not tolerant teens having a smoke.
We do not tolerant teens having a drink.
We should not tolerant teens having sex.

The Obama abortion defenders demand that the government teach safe sex techniques.
We do not teach safe drug use.
We do not teach safe alcohol use.
We do not teach safe cigarette use.

The goal in any human behavior is not perfection but to teach and work to the ideal.

If you are going to drink and drive, use a seatbelt.
If you are going to do drugs, use a clean needle.
If you are going to smoke, use filtered low tar.
So...
If you are going to have sex, use a condom...?

This is liberal logic: We demand that children and teens be able to make adult decisions.

When adults set up the premise for failure for children and teens, (they are going to do it anyway...) we are condoning -- not condemning the behavior. Somebody has to be the (discerning) parent.

Thank you (foot)notes,

The Abstinence Clearinghouse points us to The Heritage Foundation,

Christine Kim and Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation, presented a comprehensive review of 21 prior studies of the effectiveness of abstinence and virginity pledge programs. Two thirds of these studies appeared in peer-reviewed publications.

"The overwhelming majority of prior studies of abstinence education report positive results," Christine Kim said. "Sixteen out of 21 studies of abstinence education found youths who received abstinence education had lower rates of sexual activity or other positive behaviors, when compared to youths who did not receive abstinence training."

Emphasis mine. Heritage continues,

Specifically, 11 of the 15 evaluations of abstinence programs reported positive findings. Five of the six studies of virginity pledges also reported positive findings...

Heritage also reminds us that the government funds sex ed $12 for every $1 in abstinence only. Abstinence only is outspent $12 to 1 by the government.

THE FEDERAL DEFINITION OF ABSTINENCE-ONLY EDUCATION, from the U.S. Social Security Act, §510(b)(2).

An eligible abstinence education program is one that:

A) has as its exclusive purpose, teaching the social, psychological, and health gains to be realized by abstaining from sexual activity;

B) teaches abstinence from sexual activity outside marriage as the expected standard for all school-age children;

C) teaches that abstinence from sexual activity is the only certain way to avoid out-of-wedlock pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and other associated health problems;

D) teaches that a mutually faithful monogamous relationship in the context of marriage is the expected standard of human sexual activity;

E) teaches that sexual activity outside the context of marriage is likely to have harmful psychological and physical effects;

F) teaches that bearing children out-of-wedlock is likely to have harmful consequences for the child, the child's parents, and society;

G) teaches young people how to reject sexual advances and how alcohol and drug use increase vulnerability to sexual advances; and

H) teaches the importance of attaining self-sufficiency before engaging in sexual activity.

Media Alert: Charmaine Quotes on Palin VP Pick and the Pregnancy

| By Jack Yoest

palin.jpg Charmaine has been interviewed by a number of media outlets on John McCain's VP Palin pick and the announcement today that Palin's daughter is getting married and is pregnant.

Statement from Dr. Charmaine Yoest, Americans United for Life, on Palin Daughter's Pregnancy

Last update: 3:04 p.m. EDT Sept. 1, 2008 CHICAGO, Sept 01, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX

Dr. Charmaine Yoest, President and CEO of Americans United for Life, issued the following statement in response to news that the daughter of McCain running mate Sarah Palin is pregnant:

"As the mother of five children, I know this situation is not the ideal Sarah Palin wished for her daughter.

But the way we react to life's challenges is the true testament to our character. The Palin family is displaying courage and constancy.

We join them in welcoming this new life. Our prayers are with the entire Palin family as they deal with this in the intense glare of the media spotlight."

In Politico, Palin electrifies conservative base

By tapping the anti-abortion and pro-gun Alaska governor just ahead of his convention, which is set to start here Monday, McCain hasn't just won approval from a skeptical Republican base - he's ignited a wave of elation and emotion that has led some grass-roots activists to weep with joy.

Serious questions remain about McCain's pick - exactly how much he knows about her and her positions, past and present, on key issues. But for the worker bee core of the party that is essential to any Republican victory, there are no doubts.

"I woke up and my e-mail was just going crazy," said Charmaine Yoest, head of the legislative arm of Americans United for Life and a former top official in Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign. "And then when it was announced - it was like you couldn't breathe."

Republican officials think that Mr McCain has solved that problem with the Palin pick. And they are cheered even more by the belief that it is the evangelical Christians who are most electrified - the same people who did so well by Mr Bush in 2000 and 2004.

Charmaine Yoest, a former top aide to presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee and a leading voice among conservative Republican women said the reaction to Mrs Palin has been beyond ecstatic. "I woke up and my e-mail was just going crazy," she said here in St Paul. "And then when it was announced - it was like you couldn't breathe."

LifeNews writes, Pro-Life Groups Say Sarah Palin's Abortion Rejection Reminds of McCain's' Adoption

Yoest told LifeNews.com that McCain's and Palin's actions and words point to the key differences between them and their pro-abortion rivals Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

"The Republican ticket stands in stark contrast to the stridently pro-abortion ticket put forth by the Democratic party," she said. "You can be sure the vice presidential selections will have far-reaching ramifications in this race."

Obama came under fire for appearing to back a potential decision by his daughters to seek an abortion saying he wouldn't "punish" them with a baby.

LifeNews, Mexico Supreme Court's Decision to Allow Capital City Abortions Upsets Pro-Life Groups

Mexico City, Mexico (LifeNews.com) -- The decision by the highest court in Mexico to uphold the law allowing abortions up to 12 weeks into pregnancy is drawing sharp criticism from leading pro-life groups. The Mexico Supreme Court voted 8-3 this past week to uphold a federal district law allowing abortions and paying for them at taxpayer expense through the government health care program.

Charmaine Yoest, the president of Americans United for Life tells LifeNews.com that the ruling ignores the negative impact of abortion on women and is a devastating step toward abortion on demand for other Latin American nations.

Yoest's organization was one of the American pro-life groups to file an amicus brief with the Mexico Supreme Court in the case that could have ramifications throughout the region.

"We are dismayed the Mexican Supreme Court would ignore the overwhelming evidence that abortion hurts women. Upholding this law demonstrates a total lack of concern for the health and welfare of Mexican women," she said.

Management Training at Leadership Institute

| By Jack Yoest

Your Business Blogger(R) just returned from meeting a number of conservative friends in Minneapolis-St. Paul in preparation for the GOP convention. It was exciting to talk with the good-guys from across the country especially during the Palin pick for VP.

I ran into my good friend Morton Blackwell who has run conservative politics in Virginia for decades and heads up the Leadership Institute in Arlington, Virginia.

Recently, I was honored to give a brief presentation on management to LI. The overview requested was on Managing Management Time(TM) created and developed by The William Oncken Corporation.

LI also asked about some time management techiques and I certainly obliged.

But.

But Alert Readers will know that Managing Management Time(tm) is a philosophy created to teach managers to be more effective; to control events. MMT is NOT a time management course.

The briefing is divided into four short segments.

Part 2

Charmaine and I spent last week in Minneapolis and we just put her back on a plane this afternoon to attend the GOP convention. See her quotes in The Wall Street Journal. She is the president and CEO of Americans United for Life and former senior advisor to the Huckabee for president campaign.
