Betty Friedan, 1921 - 2006

Betty Friedan"There's Betty Friedan," I whisper.
"So?" Charmaine is not impressed.
"Let's go meet her, " I say.
We are at the National Press Club years ago. Friedan is sitting alone, save for one very, very mature matron next to her.
There was no entourage. No groupies. No interest.
We all exchanged pleasantries.
We didn't know it, but we were saying good-bye. To her and feminism.
Betty Friedan is dead.
